Who is Elon Musk?

Elon Musk is a tech entrepreneur, engineer, industrial designer, and philanthropist. If you are to talk about people who have made an impact on the world in the last 2 decades, Elon Musk‘s name can’t miss on that list. This list would probably have the likes of Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos, Zuckerberg, and many more. Several business analysts consider Elon to be the most influential CEO in the last 2 decades. From a very young age, Elon has been a big dreamer. It is not surprising that he has been able to start a good number of billion-dollar companies.

Elon’s Biography

His origin is from South Africa, but he’s also a citizen of the USA and Canada (where he lived a couple of years when he left South Africa). Elon Musk was born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa. He developed a love for computers at an early age and by 12 years he had already developed a game called Blastar.

School life

In his early days at School, Elon Musk was an introvert and he spent most of his time reading books. He was bullied by his fellow students at 15 years – something he has never forgotten till today. Musk spent most of his early life with his brother Kimbal and sister Tosca in South Africa before moving to Canada at 17 years in 1989. He later moved to the USA to attend University education at the University of Pennsylvania to study business and physics.  

Companies he has started

Some of the companies Elon has been part of include; Zip2 (his very first company), X.com (later became PayPal), Tesla, SpaceX, The boring Company, hyperloop, OpenAI, and Neauralink. Amongst these, the most successful ones have been Tesla, SpaceX, and PayPal. The rest of the companies are also expected to be more successful than they are now. And most likely, Elon will start many more companies in the future because he’s mind is always bubbling with new ideas.

His parents at first thought he was deaf

At an early age, Musk’s parent’s thought he was deaf to the point of ordering for a medical test to know whether their son was deaf or not. Musk was introspective, who would spend a couple of minutes without listening to anything apart from what was going on in his brain. Many say, this is what has made him come up with so many wild ideas.

Early age genius

Elon was a genius and a businessman from an early age. He was able to develop a video game at 12 years when he got exposure to computers which he sold at $500.

Survived at $1 a day while in Canada

When he had first got to Canada at 17, he survived on a $1 a day by buying food in bulk from supermarkets.

He dropped out of Stanford University after two days

After the first two degrees, Elon went to Stanford University for further studies. He, however, dropped out after two days to found his first company – Zip2.

His teenager’s hobby

Musk would read books for almost 10 hours a day when he was young.

He spent most of his time as a kid reading books and he was able to read the whole Encyclopedia Britannica at age nine.
