The LaserJet Pro 400 M401 is a laser printer from the American manufacturer HP. HP produces printers that are very well known on the market and are synonymous with high-quality.
This HP M401 comes in 3 different series: n, dn and dw. ‘n’ represents ethernet connection, ‘d’ duplex, and ‘w’ wireless. It’s recommended for small businesses with a volume of at least 3,000 prints per month. For consumers, it’s recommended to choose among the InkJet line.
All of the HP M401 series have the same size (267 mm height, 368 mm depth, 364 mm width) and more or less the same weight, which is about 11 kg.
The printing is astonishing, as most of HP LaserJet models. It supports many page sizes such as A4, A5, A6, and many more. The printing speed is 35 pages per minute. Not bad at all.
The lifecycle of the printer is estimated up to 50,000 pages.
Software and Management Tools
HP M401 software is compatible with Mac and Windows systems. The printer features an elegant and easy-to-use LCD screen on the front panel.
Little note: this LCD screen is not available for “n” series.
From the LCD screen, you’re able to perform many tasks and modify the print jobs. You can also use it to browse documents and print directly from a USB flash drive. It is also possible to scan any document and save it to the flash drive itself. With the LCD screen, you can also navigate the Internet and directly print from the web.
Another nice feature is the HP Auto-On / Off technology that allows to save energy and money. The printer turns off automatically after every use.
It also supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. You can connect to the printer using also your mobile. M401 includes support for mobile apps such as HP ePrint and Apple AirPrint.
